Meet your season coaches:
I came to Team in Training in 2005 after a 10 year absence from marathon running. With the help of some fantastic coaches and an amazing program I was able to run the Virginia Beach Half Marathon, the Nike Women's Half Marathon six weeks later, and the Marine Corps Marathon a week after that. I was hooked. I continued to run with the Team over the next two years and in 2007 began coaching with TNT. I have trained or coached with the Team just about every year since. In 2014, I finally completed a ten year goal of completing my first triathlon - of course through Team in Training!
Like many involved with Team in Training I bring a personal connection to the Team. My wife Carol is a long-term leukemia patient and TNT alumni. She is my inspiration. Even if you don't bring a personal connection to the cause, you will soon meet many people whose courage and strength will make it that much easier to train and ultimately cross the finish line. Not only will you cross the finish line but you will be helping LLS cross its finish line in its race to beat leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. Your efforts will make a tremendous difference in the fight against blood cancers, supporting research efforts and providing support to patients and their families.
Thank you again for taking that first step in joining Team in Training and I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you during the upcoming season. Go Team!
I have participated in 14 marathons, lots of half marathons, two adventure races, and too many trail 10-milers to keep track of. I started with Team In Training as a participant in 2006 and was amazed at the number of people willing to train and raise funds to fight blood cancers. Between the participants and the dedicated staff, I knew that TNT was an organization that I wanted to continue to be a part of. I came back as a Mentor in 2007, and a Run and Run/Walk Coach in 2010 and 2011. I am excited about starting my third season as a coach for the spring season!
