"I jumped off the boat and rolled onto my back and was so grateful for the day. I was grateful for all the money we raised for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. That is the reason we were all there. I thought of all names on my arms of those that had fought cancer and those that lost their battles with cancer. I couldn't help but think of my brother David who taught me not to be afraid of the swim. He would have been so proud of me. I know he was watching down on me. I pulled my goggles up and saw Kate and everyone on the beach cheering the last of us in. Neil taught me that I should always take my goggles off and enjoy the views of the magnificent river. It was magnificent...choppy...but magnificent."
