The Team In Training® triathlon programs are open to participants with any
and all levels of cycling, swimming and running experience - from absolute
beginners to experienced racers. Within each program participants are
divided into groups by level.
Training
TNT triathlon coaches design three-month training programs that prepare
participants for the Olympic (0.93 mile swim, 24.8 mile
bike, and 6.2 mile run), or Half Ironman (1.2 mile
swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run) distance triathlons. Coaches
work directly with participants at weekly training sessions and are also
available throughout the week to answer training and fitness-related
questions.
The triathlon training program focuses on enhancing participants' swimming,
cycling, and running endurance, agility, and technique. A typical
weekly schedule of training for the triathlon programs consists of:
- Two to three coached training days a week, including evening workouts
during the week and morning pratices most Saturdays.
- Two to three days of on-your-own workouts based on provided schedule
- One to two rest days
- Additional clinics on gear, biomechanics, nutrition, injury prevention,
and more
Coaches
The TNT triathlon offers a qualified and dedicated group of triathlon
trainers. We select our coaches for their experience, professionalism,
knowledge, and enthusiasm, as well as their devotion to the cause. All have
extensive coaching experience and have proven themselves in numerous
athletic endeavors.
Mentors
Mentors serve both as a resource and as a peer advisor, encouraging and
supporting team members throughout the training and fundraising season.
Honorees
TNT members train and raise funds in honor of a local resident who has been
affected by a blood cancer. Your honoree becomes your inspiration as you
work toward goals that will better both of your lives. We provide each
triathlon participant with a wristband to wear with the team honoree' s
name.
