The Team In Training® (TNT) run program is open to participants with any
and all levels of running experience and fitness - from absolute beginners
to experienced racers.
Training
TNT run coaches have designed three- to five-month training programs which
prepare participants for the target marathons or half marathons.
Participants will train and work directly with the coaches at weekly track
workouts. Coaches are also available throughout the week to answer training
and fitness-related questions. There will be one coached workout every week
on Saturday. Additionally, there will be "buddy runs" on the non-coached
days led by assistant coaches, captains, or mentors.
Coaches
The TNT run programs offers a qualified and dedicated group of run
trainers. Our coaches were selected for their experience, professionalism,
knowledge and enthusiasm, as well as their devotion to the cause. All of
our coaches have extensive coaching experience and have proven themselves
in numerous athletic endeavors. A typical workly schedule for our run
program includes:
- Three days of running 30 to 60 minutes on your own time or with a
'buddy' group (focus is on variable pacing and also includes flaxibilty
excercises and stretching)
- Longer, coached team endurance trainings on weekends
- Three rest days
Mentors
Mentors are past TNT participants who have successfully completed the
training and fundraising program. The mentor will serve as a resource and
peer advisor, encouraging team members throughout the training and
fundraising season.
Honorees
TNT members train and raise funds in honor of a local resident who has been
affected by a blood-related cancer. Your honoree becomes your inspiration
as you work toward goals that will better both of your lives. We provide
each run participant with a wristband to wear throughout the season with
names of personal and team honorees.
Location
Run teams are divided into regional teams. The Washington/Alaska
Chapter of Team In Training forms teams in Seattle, Tacoma, Bellingham,
Spokane, and Anchorage, depending on the season.
