Why join The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Moms in Training program?

What is Moms in Training?
The LLS Moms in Training program recruits moms who are passionate about fighting blood cancers and saving lives
MIT will get you ready to run or walk a 5K, 10K or 15K to help raise money to fight cancer
A flexible 8-week workout program
Capital Region Training: Saturdays 9AM March , 2015 ? May 3, 2015, Lions Park, Niskayuna, NY
Vermont Training: TBA

Capital Region program culminates with The Mastodon Challenge 5K or 15K in Cohoes, NY on May 9, 2015.
Vermont program culminates with The TNT Blast Away Cancer 5K/10K in Shelburne, VT on June 20, 2015

What are the benefits of the Moms In Training team?
Moms have the chance to stay in shape and train at a location convenient for them. Not only will you meet other moms, but you'll be gaining new workout buddies and play-date opportunities! Additionally, you'll have the ability to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and be a part of the incredible research LLS is doing to cure blood cancers and support Upstate NY and Vermont cancer patients in need.
I know someone affected by cancer. Can I train & fundraise in honor or memory of them?
Absolutely! We encourage you to honor someone you know who has been affected by ANY type of cancer.
Is my child allowed at the work-out?
As long as your baby is able to remain in the stroller, you are welcome to bring your baby to the trainings! The workouts allow you to exercise with a stroller. Jogging strollers are not required.
What if I cannot attend all the work-outs or participate in the event?
The program is tailored around being flexible for moms! We encourage you to attend as many work-outs as you can. You can still participate in the program even if you are unable to participate in the event.
When/where does this start & what do the work-outs consist of?
Capital Region Workouts will start on March 15, 2015 at 9AM and continue every Saturday. Our Vermont MIT group will be announcing a training location and time soon. Training will be approximately 60-75 minutes. Workouts will consist of running, walking, cross-training & stretching.
I am not an athlete at all! Can I really train to complet 5K, 10 or 15K in eight weeks?
YES! We have moms of all levels who join. You have the ability to run, walk or do a run/walk combination.
How much do I have to fundraise in order to participate?
For this event we ask that commit to fundraising $500. You will receive a fundraising website & additional staff support. There is a $50 registration fee to join, which is credited towards your fundraising goal.
Am I able to withdraw from the program at a later date?
Yes. You will have an opportunity to withdraw with no further fundraising obligation.
If I cannot attend the race can I still participate in the training?
Yes! The event is optional and most find the training rewarding in itself.
When does the program run?
The Capital Region program will run March 15, 2015- through May 9, 2015. The Vermont program will run from the week of April 19th through the week of June 14th
