Local Honored Heroes

Each Team In Training® participant trains in honor of a local blood cancer patient or survivor. This hero, who faces an even greater challenge, provides motivation and inspiration for us all.

Name: Maxim

Diagnosis: ALL

Maxim was born in September, 2000 and was diagnosed with leukemia in 2004. He is in remission and currently undergoing maintenance treatment.

Name: Makayla

Diagnosis: ALL

Makayla was born in 2002 and was diagnosed with leukemia at just four months old. After three years of treatment, we are happy to say that Makayla's port was removed in June, 2006!

Name: Justin

Diagnosis: ALL

Justin was born in June of 2002 and was diagnosed with leukemia in 2002 when he was only two years old.  He is in remission and doing great!

Name: Joanne
Diagnosis: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma

Joanne's daughter Emily ran the WALT DISNEY WORLD® Marathon in 2004 for her mom. Now in remission, Joanne has completed two half marathons and is a TNT Mentor!

 

Name: Kameron
Born: Sept. 16, 1993
Diagnosis: Chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML)

Kameron Conner is an honored hero for the Upstate New York/Vermont Chapter's spring 2004 Team In Training. He was diagnosed with CML in August 2003. He completed a bone marrow transplant December 2003. He still visits the hospital, but is doing well.

 

Name: Michael
Born: Aug. 27, 1995
Diagnosis: ALL

Michael was diagnosed in March 2002 with ALL. He is in remission and has completed more that two years of treatment. Michael was an honored hero for a friend in Minnesota who ran the Twin Cities Marathon.

 

Name: David
Diagnosis: CML

David has been in total remission since March 2002 after undergoing a stem cell transplant. He has been actively involved with many of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's programs and is always willing to educate others and share his stories. It is with much gratitude for his dedication to the cause that we honor him.
