I joined up with TNT to honor my son, Andrew, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 5. He's 9 now and doing great. He's in remission, and we're just waiting to hear the word CURED! As a leisure jogger, I never thought I'd finish a marathon. Knowing everything my son had to endure helped give me the push I needed to cross that finish line. I continue to support TNT and LLS because although my son is doing great (thank you God), there's still lots of kiddos not as lucky. We cannot quit until everyone gets to hear the word CURE. As is our Family Motto...Keeping the Faith!

My experience with Team In Training was life-changing. I started the adventure to support a little friend of mine who had recently been diagnosed with leukemia. She had the most amazing attitude, and I knew I had to do something in her honor. I really loved training as a team on Saturdays and appreciated the awesome coaching. But I'll have to say, the most incredible experience was the support from family and friends as I eagerly raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Their financial AND emotional support was heart-warming and gave me the confidence to keep going. We are now celebrating my little friend's battle as she completes her rounds of chemotherapy. Kisses for Kate!

I have been a part of TNT since the fall of 2003. When I embarked on my first season of training, I would never have guessed I would return for another season. Now it's almost 6 years later - I'm training for my 7th event and can't imagine not being a part of this particular organization. Each and every season, I am blown away the night before our event when I hear from our honored guests and how much they have gone through. Then when I hear the figures of how much this small group of people has raised to help find a cure, I am driven to join again. We are making a difference, each and every day.

I did not have a personal connection with blood cancer when I started riding with TNT; however, several connections were found during my fundraising. A childhood friend that I went to grammar school, junior high and high school was diagnosed with leukemia last year; a college classmate lost his wife to leukemia in Dec 2007; and a few weeks ago a fellow in my Sunday school class was diagnosed with lymphoma. In addition, about a week after my 2009 Tahoe ride, my son was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. I think God led me to TNT and I think I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing.
Everyone involved in TNT is a "giver" - there are no "takers". Most people do not appreciate the amount of time and effort required to train for an endurance event - to participate a person must be dedicated and determined. The dedication and expertise of the coaches, captains and mentors almost guarantee a participant will be successful - all you have to do is show up, listen and give a good effort. My personal thanks to TNT for whipping my 72-year old bod into shape and for providing me with some of the closest and rewarding friendships I have ever had. I will continue to ride for as long as I can contribute - and at some point in the future I hope to get up the nerve to attempt a triathlon and a marathon and get my triple crown.
