TNT is the world's
largest endurance sports training program, and
the leading fundraising campaign of The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This year, TNT
will train 30,000 people - from novice to
seasoned athlete - to run or walk a marathon or
half marathon, cycle a century ride,
participate in a hiking adventure or
complete an Olympic distance
triathlon.
As a team member, you
will receive:
A four to five
month training program for your endurance
event.
Hotel
accommodations, event travel, and entry
into the event.
Group training
sessions for team members to train and meet
fellow participants.
Clinics on
nutrition, fundraising, injury prevention,
equipment, race strategy and
more.
Support and
encouragement from coaches, mentors and
staff.
2. What is the
training program like?
As a member of Team In
Training, you'll join a dedicated group of men
and women for support, camaraderie and the
knowledge that your commitment is saving lives.
Experienced coaches will help you achieve
optimal performance based on your own goals and
abilities. A four to five month training
program will provide advice on form and
technique, race strategies, injury prevention
and nutrition.
3. I've never
done anything like this. What type of shape do
I have to be in to join
TNT?
Team In Training is a
program designed with beginners in mind.
Coaches will provide training schedules for all
levels of fitness. Many TNT participants are
first timers, while others have completed
endurance events in the past and are looking to
improve their time or performance.
4. How much
money do I have to raise? How will I do
it?
TNT's primary goal is to raise funds for blood
cancer research and patient services. Each
participant is responsible for raising a
minimum based on his or her chosen event. These
minimums are based on keeping the participant
costs (training, travel, etc.) at no more than
25 percent of funds raised.
We will provide all the support you need to
successfully complete your fundraising. TNT
participants will receive a participant
notebook full of great ideas, sample letters,
and other tips that will get you started on
your road to success. Each participant will
also be paired with a mentor - a past
participant who has successfully completed both
his or her training and fundraising.
5. Tell me
about the honored patient
element?
A key element of the
Team In Training experience is training in
honor of a local blood cancer survivor. Their
courage provides motivation and inspiration - a
partner who faces an even greater challenge and
needs your help.
Team members are also
welcome to train in honor of personal honored
patients.
6. What do the
funds I raise support?
The Society dedicates 75% of every dollar spent
to support research activities, patient
services and education.
