Testimonials

Here's what some of our past participants had to say about their TNT experience:

"Joining the TNT Hike Team has been a very rich and rewarding experience for me on many levels. It is a worthy cause and I am proud to ask others to financially support the important work that LLS does. The TNT Hike Team has trained me to be a smarter and stronger hiker and has introduced me to many beautiful spots with great hills to climb in my area. I also have met many great people who also enjoy my favorite pastime."
-- Beth Gross, Scotts Valley, CA
MSC Hike Team Mentor and Honoree
Hodgkin's disease survivor

"I joined TNT while still in treatment for leukemia. Yes, I was bald and sometimes sick at trainings, but joining TNT was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. If you have never joined TNT, you are missing out! The people you meet will become friends for a lifetime."
--
Christine Gimelli, Hollister, CA
MSC Hike and Cycle Team Manager
Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia survivor

"Some of my family members have made significant changes in physical ability, and have developed an amazing 'can do' attitude while also making many new friends through TNT. I hope to do the same and also become a role model for my family with the idea that even a senior citizen can remain active, do good for others and achieve new goals."
-- Gayle Snyder, San Jose, CA
South Bay Walk Team Participant

"Nothing gives me greater pleasure than to share my love of running, help others to experience the thrill of crossing that finish line and assist them in raising the funds needed to beat cancer. Meeting people afflicted with blood cancers through TNT and hearing their stories makes me want to do something to make a difference."
-- James Staten, Redwood City, CA
North Peninsula Run Team Coach

"The best thing about TNT is that it works. From every vantage point, it is a very well-planned program. The friendship aspect is great. The training is excellent and tests many people's limited visions of what they can achieve."
-- Jean Frederic Aboudarham, Mountain View, CA
Mid-Peninsula Run Team Participant

"I think the best part of TNT is that it's an amazing combination of making a difference in the world and changing your life. Team In Training has taught me that possibilities are endless. Don't limit yourself by thinking about what you can't do. You will never know what you can do unless you try. Trying is much better than wishing."
-- Kelli King, Menlo Park, California
Silicon Valley Triathlon and Cycle Team Participant

"The Hike Team gave me so much more than I ever imagined when I first signed up. Some of my closest friends I have today I have gotten to know from Hike. It's like family. It's an amazing experience knowing that you are helping people raise funds for a cause that is very important to them."
-- Vibeke Brinck, Burlingame, CA
Silicon Valley Hike Coach
Mother of leukemia survivor and TNT Honoree, Lara Brinck Kohn

"While the challenge of completing an endurance event is rewarding enough, finishing this race will mean more to me than just overcoming a physical challenge. My dad was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in November of 1999. While watching my dad go through treatment was both scary and painful, my family was fortunate that our story had a happy ending. Had my dad been diagnosed ten or fifteen years earlier, our story would have had a very different ending because the type of treatment my dad used to fight the tumors in his body was not available to previous generations of cancer patients. As a Team In Training participant, I hope that my family's story will become a more familiar one as treatments and cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma are developed."
-- JoAnna Halk, Sunnyvale, CA
SV Cycle Team Participant
Daughter of Honoree and fellow SV Cycle Team participant, Ed Halk

"I first joined TNT in the summer of 2000 and I have been involved with the program ever since. TNT is absolutely amazing and full of fantastic people. I am very much a supporter
and only wish that I could do more. My advice to those considering joining TNT is just do it!!! You will never forget the experience! Never!"
-- Ron Preston, Santa Clara, CA
South Bay Run Team Participant and Honoree
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia survivor
