Kaiser Permanente Half Marathon

San Francisco, CA, Feb. 7, 2010. Half marathon (13.1 walk, run or run/walk).

Ranked as one of the most scenic in the country by Runner's World, this course starts on John F. Kennedy Drive at Stow Lake Drive in Golden Gate Park and finishes on Martin Luther King Drive near the Great Highway.

Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and Half Marathon

New Orleans, LA, Feb. 28, 2010. 26.2 or 13.1 miles walk, run or run/walk.

Don your Carnival masks and Rock 'n' Roll through the Big Easy! Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras takes in the French Quarter and lively Bourbon Street, scenic and majestic St. Charles Avenue, the stately Garden District and two of the finest urban green spaces in the nation, Audubon Park and City Park.

Oakland Marathon and Half Marathon

Oakland, CA, March 28, 2010. 26.2 or 13.1 miles walk, run or run/walk.

At Oakland's first marathon in 25 years, participants race from Broadway to Piedmont and College Avenues, pass through beautiful Lake Temescal and then tackle the hills of Montclair. After a breathtaking view of the Cities by the Bay, participants will journey through the vibrant neighborhoods of Fruitvale, Chinatown and historic Jack London Square. Then it's a final lap around sparkling Lake Merritt and a sprint to the finish at City Hall.

Pinnacles National Monument Hike

Pinnacles, CA, Jan. 16, 2010. Several distance options (all are day-hikes).

Rising out of the chaparral-covered Gabilan Mountains east of central California's Salinas Valley are the spectacular remains of an ancient volcano that created Pinnacles National Monument. Massive monoliths, spires, sheer-walled canyons and talus passages provide hikers with opportunities for countless breathtaking views and an amazing hike experience. The weekend includes hotel stay and a full-day hike at Pinnacles National Monument on Jan. 16.

Yellowstone Rendezvous Cross-Country Ski Race

West Yellowstone, MT, March 6, 2010. 25k or 50k.

The Yellowstone Rendezvous is part of the American Ski Marathon Series (ASM), North America's longest-running and largest citizen's racing and touring series. The Yellowstone Rendezvous offers three cross-country ski races-25k classical, 25k freestyle and 50k freestyle. The course consists of one loop (25k) or two loops (50k) and begins on the old Union Pacific railroad bed, where the West Yellowstone Mountain Men will fire a black powder rifle to start you off with a bang! March is still wintertime in the high country, and you'll see bison and elk, beautiful alpine views and plenty of steamy hot springs and glistening white powder.

Solvang Century

Solvang, CA, March 13, 2010. 104 miles.

Ride your bike from the Scandinavian town of Solvang to the rolling hills of the coastline through beautiful Southern California's wine country. With 4,000 feet of vertical gain, this century is rated as a ride, not a race.

Lavaman Triathlon

Waikoloa (Kona), HI, March 28, 2010. Olympic (.93 mi. swim, 24.8 mi. bike, 6.2 mi. run).

Feel the spirit of the Big Island, home to the legendary Hawaii Ironman! Swim in the clear Pacific Ocean at Anaeho'omalu Bay, ride part of the Ironman World Champion Bike Course, then run across lava fields, coral trails, resort lawns and sandy beaches on the beautiful South Kohala coast of Hawaii.

 

Ironman Triathlon Events

    

Vineman

Sonoma County, CA, July 31, 2010. Full Vineman (2.4 mi. swim, 112 mi. bike, 26.2 mi. run) or AquaBike (2.4 mi. swim, 112 mi. cycle).

Designed with an emphasis on making the average athlete's experience of completing the classic Ironman distance enjoyable and personalized, the Vineman is a tour of Sonoma County vineyards and wineries.

Ironman Canada

Penticton, British Columbia, Aug. 29, 2010. Ironman (2.4 mi. swim, 112 mi. bike, 26.2 mi. run).

The swim at Okanagan Lake Beach is followed by a ride that winds through the Okanagan Falls countryside, including two climbs at Richter Pass and Twin Lakes. The run course is known for its beauty and the enthusiastic support of the volunteers at aid stations along the way.

Ironman Louisville

Louisville, KY, Aug. 29, 2010. Ironman (2.4 mi. swim, 112 mi. bike, 26.2 mi. run).

Swim in the Ohio River under beautiful bridges with historic steamboats docked along the riverbank. Bike through the green hills of Kentucky's horse country and have a spectacular finish at 4th Street Live, a lively pedestrian area in downtown Louisville. This Ironman features great fan support along the way and a special festival on the bike course in Le Grange.
