Travel FAQs
1. What travel expenses are covered by Team In Training® (TNT)?
When you reach the fundraising minimum for an "away" event, your airfare, hotel and ground transportation are covered by the team.
2. How long is the team trip?
The typical TNT event requires the team to be in the destination city two days prior to the event and return to Hawaii the day after the event (three nights). Depending upon distance to the destination city, trips may be as short as two nights or as long as four nights.
3. Are any meals covered by Team In Training?
The Pasta Party held the night prior to the event and the Victory Party held after you finish your event are both covered in your fundraising. If you are bringing guests, you will need to purchase tickets for them to attend these dinners.
4. What if I want to extend my trip?
You will need to book your own airfare and call the hotel directly to add additional nights. Immediately following your event, you will need to turn in your original receipt or eTicket email receipt and boarding passes to your coordinator showing the price paid for the ticket. You will be reimbursed for the price of your ticket up to the cost of the group ticket. Your hotel will be covered for two to four nights during the team stay, depending on the destination. You are responsible for paying for any extra nights in the hotel.
5. How long does it take to receive the airfare reimbursement check?
You must turn your receipt in after the trip so that The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Home Office has proof that you went on the trip. After this is turned into your coordinator, the check will arrive within four weeks.
6. What if I want to bring a guest?
If your guest will be sharing your hotel room, you will need to pay for half of the hotel room. Since TNT assigns each participant a roommate, your fundraising only covers half of the room cost, so your guest must pay for the other half, since they are not fundraising participants. You will also need to pay the costs for porterage fee and administrative fees, pasta and victory party tickets, and ground transportation. Your guest is welcome to fly on the group flights, space permitting. Participants always get first priority on seats, but we are usually able to accommodate your guests!
7. Can my family and friends go on the trip and stay in the same hotel?
You can bring as many guests as you would like, but we only book one room per participant. We cannot extend the TNT group hotel rate for family and friends. However, they are more than welcome to contact the hotel directly and book their own reservations. The team can book your guest's airfare as long as there is space on the flight and your guest is traveling with the team on the team flights.
8. What if I want to stay in a different hotel?
You are more than welcome to do this, however you will not be reimbursed for hotel expenses or given fundraising credit for not using your half of the hotel costs included in your fundraising. You will simply be saving the Society money.
