5k to a Cure

Team In Training is famous for it's endurance event training!  In the Spring of 2012, we will begin our training program for the  Cox Providence Rhode Races 5K.  And this event is for the whole family!

When you join Team In Training for 5K to a Cure, you'll get the benefit of 8 weeks of training with our professional coaches and educational clinics, training and race day gear, free race entry and more.  5K to a Cure is everything you have come to love about the Team In Training Program in a compact and family friendly package.  All you'll have to do is commit to training for the event and raising funds to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in the fight against leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.  On Saturday, May 5, 2012, you'll join your team and thousands of others for an exhilarating 3.1 mile run or walk.

First 5K?  That's OK!  Team In Training specializes in helping novice athletes take on the challenge.  Our coaches also have the know-how to assist more experienced athletes in reaching specific goals.

You'll train alongside some amazing people, get in great shape, and best of all, you'll help save lives.  Recruitment for this incredible program begins in January of 2012.  For more information please contact Kayde Wagner at (401) 943-8888 or kayde.wagner@lls.org

What is the 5K Training Program?
It is an opportunity for Rhode Island athletes (or soon-to-be athletes!) to complete local, shorter distance walk or run. For those who are hesitant to take the giant leap and complete a 1/2 or full marathon, we now work with you in taking the first step in reaching your greatest potential!

What does this program include?
The 5k training program offers similar benefits to Team In Training's Marathon Program. You will receive a certified coach and attend educational clinics on topics like nutrition and stretching.  You will be able to take advantage of group training sessions, paid registration fee, and a complimentary TNT training/event shirt.  We're also going to set up a fundraising website for you to help you achieve your financial goals of raising money to help find a cure for blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Who can sign up?
This opportunity is available for EVERYONE! So get together with your colleagues at work, your neighbors and friends, or reengage yourself in a healthy lifestyle.

We are also thrilled to announce that for the first time Team In Training will be opening up it's program to young participants!  You and your family can now participate in Team In Training together!  As long as the potential Team In Training participant is 11 years old by May 4, 2012, they can join the program.  This new 5k training program will be a great way to involve the young people in your life in actively making an impact in their community!  (Please note that for every participant under the age of 18 their must be one adult also participating.)
