Expectations
You probably have three main questions when it comes to the fundraising expectations of the Team In Training (TNT) program:
-How much money will I need to raise?
-How will I raise the money?
-What happens if I don't?
Let's answer the first question...This season, you will raise anywhere from $1000 to $3900, depending on the event you choose. This is what we refer to your fundraising minimum. To calculate your fundraising minimum, we total all the expenses associated with your training and event weekend (race entry, training and event t-shirts, hotels or flights, etc.) and multiply that number by four. This ensures that approximately 75% of the funds you raise go directly back to the LLS mission.
Second, in order to raise these funds we have several tried-and-true strategies including: online fundraising, email and letter writting campaigns, fundraising events, matching gifts and corporate teams and sponsorships. We share the in's and out's of these methods, along with instructions, tips, templates and more in the additional pages under the Fundraising Support tab.
And the third question: What happens if I don't raise the minimum? While we are sure that you will be able to meet, and exceed!, your minimum we want to explain fully how the program works. You will have approximately 5-7 weeks into the season -- starting at Kick Off -- to evaluate how you're doing. And, if for any reason, you find that TNT is not for you this season, you can withdraw with no further financial obligation. TNT is offered through out the year and we hope you'll come back.
But, we know you will love the program! So, it is at this time (5-7 weeks into the season) that you commit to the team. You will be committing to the training and you will be agreeing to fundraise the entire minimum by your fundraising deadline. If you find that you are just a bit short of your minimum at your fundraising deadline (approximately two weeks before your event), you will simply donate the difference to yourself. This is how we ensure that approximately 75% will go to research and patient services.
The great news is, you will raise the money...especially with all of the support and resources you will receive! When you join, you'll be assigned a mentor. A mentor is a past participant who has joined the team again to help you have a great experience! They are here to give you tons of support with your fundraising efforts and, of course, you also have the additional support of the TNT staff as well!
