Travel FAQ's

1. What travel expenses are covered by Team In Training® (TNT)?

When you reach the fundraising minimum for an "away" event, your airfare, hotel and ground transportation are covered by the team.

2. How long is the team trip?

The typical TNT event requires the team to be in the destination city two days prior to the event and return to Oregon the day after the event (three nights). However, some events require only a one or two night stay.

3. Are any meals covered by Team In Training?

The Pasta Party held the night prior to the event and the Victory Party held after you finish your event are both covered in your fundraising. If you are bringing guests, you will need to purchase tickets for them to attend these dinners.

4. What if I want to extend my trip?

You will need to book your own airfare and call the hotel directly to add additional nights. You may request the TNT rate, but it will not be guaranteed. It is recommended that you speak with the hotel group sales coordinator (if they have one) to make this request. Immediately following your event, you will need to turn in your original receipt or eTicket email receipt and boarding passes to your staff person showing the price paid for the ticket. You will be reimbursed for the price of your ticket up to the cost of the group ticket. Your hotel will be covered for the nights during the team stay. You are responsible for paying for any extra nights in the hotel.

Note: TNT will not reimburse for frequent flyer miles.

5. How long does it take to receive the reimbursement check?

Once you have submitted your receipts and your staff person has processed the request, the check will arrive within four weeks.

6. What if I want to bring a guest?

If your guest will be sharing your hotel room, you will need to pay for half of the hotel room. Since TNT assigns each participant a roommate, your fundraising covers half of the room cost, so your guest must pay for the other half, since they are not fundraising participants. You will also need to pay the costs for porterage fee and administrative fees, pasta and victory party tickets and ground transportation. Your guest is welcome to fly on the group flights, space permitting.  Participants always get first priority on seats, but we are usually able to accommodate your guests!

7. Can my family and friends go on the trip and stay in the same hotel?

You can bring as many guests as you would like, but we only book one room per participant. We cannot extend the TNT group hotel rate for family and friends. However, they are more than welcome to contact the hotel directly and book their own reservations. The team can book your guest's airfare as long as there is space on the flight and your guest is traveling with the team on the team flights.

8. What if I want to stay in a different hotel?

You are more than welcome to do this and submit your expenses. Send your staff person the hotel bill showing the amount charged and we will reimburse you up to the cost of the TNT hotel stay. Please note that we will not cover the costs of room service, purchased movies, phone calls, etc. These amounts will be deducted from your final reimbursement total.
