Team In Training (TNT) has more than 2,300 coaches working throughout the United States and Canada to help get participants in proper shape to complete a marathon, half marathon, triathlon, 100-mile century bicycle ride or hike adventure. They are a resource for every facet of the TNT experience, from purchasing the right apparel to improving racing technique and nutrition. Coaches travel with their teams to each event and are along the race route to encourage and guide the athletes. The program?s head coaches include some of the nation?s top endurance sports innovators.

Dave Scott · National Triathlon Coach
Dave is the most recognized athlete and coach in the sport of triathlon. A six-time Ironman champion and first inductee into the Ironman Hall of Fame, Scott has been a figurehead in the sport of triathlon for more than 30 years. Dave combines years of wisdom, wit and creativity to his passion for helping others. He continues to maintain worldwide appeal as a fitness, nutrition and marketing consultant and nationally recognized speaker. Dave was involved with the creation and implementation of the Team In Training triathlon coaching program since 1999 and continues to teach numerous clinics for the organization.
Jack Daniels · National Run Coach
Jack has 40 years as a college track and cross country coach. He has coached 30 individual NCAA national champions, eight NCAA national team champions and 130 All-Americans at SUNY Cortland. He was named two-time NCAA National Coach of the Year and Women?s Cross Country Coach of the Century. He had also coached two Olympic medal winners in the women?s marathon and two, sub-2:10 male marathoners. Jack was the altitude consultant for the U.S. Track Team during the 1968 Mexico City Olympics and color commentator for CBC Television during the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. He is the winner of silver and bronze Olympic medals, a World Championship medal and twice U.S. national champion, all in modern pentathlon. He has written five books on running, more than 50 articles in scientific journals plus numerous articles on running and training in popular magazines and has conducted many research studies involving elite athletes. He is currently an Associate Professor in Human Movement at A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. He has been the National Advisory Run Coach since 1997. Runners World magazine voted Jack as the "World?s Best Running Coach."
Tom Dooley · National Walk Coach
Tom is a two-time Olympian. He won a silver medal in race walking at the 1971 Pan American Games, was a member of the National Race Walking Team from 1967-1980 and held 11 American race walking records. As a TNT walking coach since 1994, Tom has trained nearly 4,500 TNT participants and has served as the TNT National Advisory Walk Coach, certifying all walk coaches since 1996. He is the author of numerous articles and has been published in Runners World, Prevention and the Ohio Race Walker.
Arnie Baker, M.D. · National Cycle Coach
Arnie is an eight-time national record holder and six-time national champion who has 200-plus career wins. He has coached cyclists to more than 100 national championships and more than 30 U.S records. Dr. Baker is the author of 17 books on cycling, including Nutrition for Sports, Bicycling Medicine and High-Intensity Training for Cyclists. He has been a columnist at Bicycling magazine and other publications. He has been the National Advisory Cycle Coach since 1997.
Carolyn Balling · National Hike Coach
Carolyn has been with the hike program since its pre-pilot stage in fall 2004. After coaching more than 1,000 TNT marathon walk participants over 16 seasons in the San Francisco Bay area, she switched her allegiance to hiking and continues to coach the team today. Carolyn has been an avid hiker and outdoorswoman since her Girl Scouts days. She has put her master?s degree in environmental education and her career as a corporate trainer to good use, working with more than 600 hikers (and counting) and certifying new hike leaders since 2007.
Marty Liquori · National Chair and Spokesperson
Marty first gained national recognition for his athletic feats in 1967, when he ran a four-minute mile while still in high school. In the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, Marty became the youngest person ever to participate in the Olympic 1,500 meter finals. By 1969, he was ranked No. 1 in the mile and 1,500-meter events. He was inducted into the Track & Field Hall of Fame in 1996. For 14 years he produced the Running and Racing show on ESPN. Marty has been with Team In Training since 1990. He understands firsthand the mission of LLS: Marty is a survivor of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Today, years after being diagnosed with CLL, Marty is a professional guitarist and jazz musician. For the past five years he has played on Monday and Thursday nights at Leonardo's 706 in Gainesville, FL, with his groups the Marty Liquori Jazztet and the Hot Club de Ville.
Nancy Clark, M.S., R.D. · National Continuing Education Specialist
Nancy is a registered dietitian who is board certified as a specialist in sports dietetics. She is currently in private practice in the Boston area, where she counsels casual exercisers and competitive athletes. She also works with several Team In Training groups in the Boston area. Nancy is the author of Nancy Clark?s Food Guide for Marathoners: Tips for Everyday Champions. She writes a monthly sports nutrition column that appears in many running publications. Her nutrition advice has even appeared on the back of Wheaties® cereal boxes. Nancy is also a marathoner and a dedicated bike commuter.
Cathy Fieseler, M.D. · National Continuing Education Specialist
Dr. Fiesler is the director of sports medicine at Trinity Mother Frances Health System in Tyler, TX. She is on the Board of Directors of the American Medical Athletic Association and is chair of the Sports Medicine Committee of the Road Runners Club of America. She?s a writer for Running Times and was a team physician for the WNBA, AHL and NWFL. Currently, Dr. Fiesler is team physician for several high schools and colleges.
