Why I TEAM
I am running for the moms.
I am running for every mom, as a mom, who has had to see their baby endure chemo.
I am running for every mom, as a mom, who has had to wear a paper hospital gown just to touch their baby.
I am running for every mom, as a mom, who did not get to bring their baby home.
In October, Dave and I will mark the first anniversary of the loss of our youngest son to a ?mystery diagnosis.? Eric was only 15 months old. While there are no organizations raising community awareness and research dollars for ?mystery diagnosis? treatments, I have come to realize that Eric underwent treatments very similar to those treatments that kiddos who are fighting cancer go through: chemotherapy, immune suppressive therapy and bone marrow transplants.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is dedicated to enhancing these treatments and the lives of the people who need them. That is why I am dedicating the next five months to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and its Team in Training program. Through Team in Training, I will be training to run the Des Moines Marathon in October in Eric?s memory, all while raising critical funds to help fight blood cancers.
