So you're thinking about buying a Plum District Deal? Here's some information you need to know before you buy.


What do I receive for joining TNT?

Each person joining the Team will receive:

  • a 12- 29 week training program
  • A TNT training t-shirt, race-day jersey and finisher's t-shirt
  • One race entry to the event of your choosing
  • A ticket to the Inspirational dinner
  • A ticket to the TNT victory party
  • For TRAVEL events:
    • Airfare
    • 2-3 night hotel stay

How do I redeem my Plum District Deal?

You can redeem your Plum District Deal when you officially register for Team In Training. Cal Team In Training at (703) 399-2942 to receive a registration form. Save a copy of your Plum District Deal as a PDF and attach it to your email or include it with your fax to receive the discount on registration!

What is Team In Training?

Team In Training (TNT) is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's groundbreaking non-profit sports training program! For the past 22 years, TNT has been unparalleled in training beginner to seasoned athletes to complete marathons, half marathons, triathlons and 100-mile bike rides while raising funds for lifesaving cancer research. We have trained over 450,000 athletes and raised over $1 BILLION to further the mission of LLS

What events can I redeem my deal for?

Winter 2012:

  • Marine Corps 10K (October 30, 2011 Washington, DC)
  • Philadelphia Marathon & Half marathon (November 5, 2011 Philadelphia, PA)
  • Hot Chocolate 15K (December 3, 2011 National Harbor, MD)
  • Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend (January 7 &8, 2012 Orlando, Fl)

Spring 2012:

  • Yuengling Shamrock Marathon & 1/2 marathon (Virginia Beach, VA March 18, 2012)
  • SunTrust Rock 'n' Roll USA Marathon & CareFirst Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon (March 17, 2012 Washington, DC)

What types of sports and/or events do you train for?

We train athletes to complete marathons, half marathons, 10K events, Olympic and Half Ironman distance triathlons and 100-mile bike rides.

How much do I have to fundraise?

Depending on the event you register for, you will be required to fundraise anywhere from $500 to $5,500.

Will I have any fundraising help or support?

You will be provided with as much support as you need as a fundraiser for LLS. A Team In Training staff member will be available to help you throughout the season with fundraising ideas and support. You will also be provided a volunteer mentor who will help you plan and execute your fundraising strategy. LLS provides each athlete with an individual online fundraising website that can be personalized and sent via email and letter to as many people as possible. This online portal allows for easy online donations by your friends, family and colleagues.

When does training begin?

The Winter Season officially began on Saturday, August 6 with an all team training. New participants will receive a training schedule once they have registered for Team In Training. The Spring Season will kick off on December 3, 2011.

What kind of training support will I receive?

Each participant is assigned to a training team that is staffed by a TNT staff member and led by a group of dynamic and expert coaches. These coaches provide all the detail and hands-on information needed to train and complete an endurance event. Coaches are accessible via email and phone as well as available face-to-face at Saturday group trainings. Along with a customized-training program and expert coaching, participants will train with a local group of like-minded individuals for motivation and inspiration.

When and where does the team train?

The team will meet and train together on Saturday mornings throughout the training season. The team meets at training locations throughout the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia and Maryland.
