"I found out about Team In Training at my company's recruitment drive. I joined for the expert coaching, camaraderie and to travel to a marathon in London. But when I met my honored patient, the real importance of what I was doing became clear."
Training
The Team In Training® (TNT) program is designed for walkers, runners, run/walkers, triathletes, cyclists and skaters of all skill levels and abilities. Experienced coaches design a day-by-day training program that prepares participants for their race day events.
Group training consists of Saturday or Sunday morning workouts at various locations around the DC metropolitan area. There are also informal weekday group training sessions. You will receive weekly emails from coaches that include training tips and updates.
Honored Teammates
Each season has an honored teammate, a leukemia patient or survivor, in whose honor the participant trains, races and raises funds. The honored teammate is each participant's personal connection to leukemia and other blood cancers. Participants have a chance to meet their honored teammates at socials and parties. Participants can also train in honor or memory of someone in their personal life.
Fundraising
In return for all the wonderful benefits of the TNT program, participants are asked to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Once you achieve the fundraising minimum for your race, the TNT staff will arrange and pay for your airfare, hotel stay, race registration, TNT weekend events and wetsuit for triathletes. The TNT staff is dedicated to helping you achieve your fundraising goals. TNT staff provide ideas, suggestions and materials to help you reach your goal.
