"If you ever want to get involved with Team in Training I strongly reccomend it.....I joined, quickly made friends, and over time, those friendships have become much stronger than just this one event. Each one with a personal connection, some were even blood cancer survivors. These people inspired and continue to inspire me."

Gordie Lat
Honored Teammate
Cycle Participant
Solvang Century
Gordie was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia on June 9, 2005. After undergoing many rounds of Chemotherapy, he decided he was tired of sitting around and sulking, and he was going to do something to help him beat the disease.
"I got a flyer in the mail and decided to go to an informational meeting about TNT to find out what it was all about. One of the speakers, Virginia Gardner, spoke of a drug named Gleevec (one that I was taking) and how a large amount of the research funding came from TNT."
Gordie joined the Eastside Triahtlon Team and completed the San Diego International Triathlon. After compling his first triathlon, he decided he would come back to the TNT and train for Big Kahuna Half Ironman! And becuase he still wants to keep raising money to help people like him, he has joined the Solvang Century Team, and will be cycling 100 miles this March.
