Fall ?09 was my first season with TNT. Prior to joining the TEAM, I was a self-coached runner and cyclist in which I had completed a few marathons and a century bike ride. The only thing stopping me from attempting a triathlon was the swim. I learned how to swim as an adult in 2008, by taking private swim lessons at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena. In the spring of 2009, I found myself at a TNT info meeting in Sherman Oaks. That?s where I decided to sign up as a TNT participant, training for the ?09 Nautica Malibu Triathlon (olympic distance). My goal for that race was to not drown! With the help of my coaches, mentor, support staff, and teammates, I was able to get out of the water safely and to finish the race strong. It was an incredible experience and one of the best things that I have ever done! I look forward to helping you achieve your goals! |
Joy Ronstadt

Joy Ronstadt started with Team in Training as a participant in May of 2007. She was inspired by all the people she met (especially her honored teammate, Evan) and went on to mentor, captain, and assistant coach. It was an unexpected, but welcomed journey. Joy completed her first Ironman in June of 2008, and is currently training for Ironman Canada in August 2009. |

Tim Petlin
| |
Tim Petlin is a Los Angeles native that has always enjoyed the outdoors and competing in sports. He swam competitively for over eight years in his youth, only to replace it with a love for cycling. Once he got into running, moving into the sport of triathlons was a natural progression. He has competed in many triathlons including several half Ironmans, three full Ironmans, and he has many more planned on the horizon. |
Tim has been involved with Team In Training since 2005 and has lead hundreds of participants, both experienced athletes and newbees, to successfully complete Triathlons. If you want it, he will not only ensure that you finish, but also he will do his best to make you as passionate about this sport as he is.
Tim is a USA Triathlon Level 1 Certified Coach and a Team In Training Tier 1 Coach (instructed and certified by Dave Scott, 6-time Ironman World Champion.)
Tim is very proud to be associated with Team In Training and its cause to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, and myeloma. Through his nurturing guidance, you will have a fantastic experience with TNT!
With you until the finish line!
Go Team!
Pete Brzycki

Hey there you burgeoning triathletes! My name is Pete Brzycki (pronounced burr-ZICK-ee) and I'm honored to be one of your coaches for this season. Can't wait to help you cross your finish line and along the way I hope I can impart at least a little of the passion I've developed for this incredible sport. One thing I can guarantee: We are going to have a lot of fun! When I tell others why TNT has become such a big part of my life, it always comes down to one thing: The people. As you will soon experience, there is something special about those associated with this fantastic program. Every last one of them (at least the hundreds I've met) are simply good-hearted, out-going, interesting, giving, goal-oriented and just plain nice! |
So, on those days when practice comes too early or you don't feel up to your workout, remember that you're doing this for those who would love to be able to get out and run a couple of miles or swim a dozen laps. Do it for THEM and you'll be amazed how proud you become of YOURSELF!
But beware! This sport and Team In Training are both addictive. This is my 4th season with TNT and in addition to a couple of half-Ironman competitions and a whole host of shorter ones, I'll be competing in (and hopefully completing) Ironman Florida in November of this year.
Feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions or need assistance. It wasn't that long ago that I was a complete newbie and I fully understand there can be a lot to take in. When I was a participant, I had a million questions and received great guidance, so I'm grateful for the opportunity to pay that forward.
Great people, great cause, great sport.. GO TEAM!!!
