LEXINGTON COACHES

Martin Bess (RUN)
Years Involved w/ TNT: I Assisted TNT head coaches for 6 years before becoming head coach.
Years as TNT coach: 4 years
TNT events completed: None
Why I?m involved: I am passionate about running and always made time to run. Running became part of my life in 1972 during High School. I started keeping a log June 1980 logging over 80,000 miles. My first marathon was in 1984 completed in 2 hours 42 minutes. I use to race 20 or more times a year mostly 5Ks or 10Ks. I am much slower now but I still enjoy running and thru TNT have found a passion for coaching and working with others to help them reach their goal. I can?t always be there physically but I get a thrill and celebrate when each one crosses the finish line.

Eric Eisiminger (CYCLE)
Years Involved w/ TNT: 5 years
Years as TNT coach: 1
TNT events completed: El Tour de Tucson, Fletcher Flyer (2 times), America?s Most Beautiful Bike Ride
Why I?m involved:  At first, I joined TNT to challenge myself with completing a century bike ride.  I always knew the value of physical training but that first season allowed me to understand the value of participation as a whole.  The greater value was the help that I was providing to families affected by blood cancers.  This realization of the ?Greater Good? has motivated me to continue providing help and support to blood cancer victims in the best way that I can.  I still enjoy the physical challenges but now I do it with a greater sense of pride in my participation in Team in Training.

"In 1997 I joined Team in Training to raise funds in honor of my son, Bradly, who was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1989.  He is still cancer free after I completed a couple of TNT marathons.  I became a mentor for the program and the TNT run coach.  I currently try to fundraise for 1 or 2 events a year as a participant".

Tammy Gillenwaters (RUN)
"I love the mission and the wonderful people I've met through Team in Training.  The pleasure I receive watching the participants training and getting stronger each week and crossing the finish line of their event with such a feeling of accomplishment gives me a deep pleasure that keeps me wanting to coach season after season.  I'm very honored and proud to be part of an organization that has made such a difference in saving lives and improving the quality of life for Blood Cancer Survivors".
