Certified Coaches All of our coaches have successfully completed the TNT Coaches Certification Program. Chris King - Head Coach Marathon Program | | Chris had competed or coached in 24 marathons, numerous half marathons and triathlons, and one 1/2 Ironman. Chris has been coaching with Team In Training since the fall of 2000. Chris' best training advice is to always remember the three P's. Patience, Persistence and Practice. Be patient—do not go too fast too early with too many miles. Be persistent—get the training in but do not be a slave to the schedule. And lastly—practice—everything from nutrition to stretching to clothing to hydration. If you remember the three P's, the last P—Performance—comes easy. |
Marie Jarrell - Assistant Head Coach Marathon Program | | Marie joined the program as a participant in the fall of 2002 and began coaching in the fall of 2004. Marie has competed in 7 marathons, 3 half marathons, 3 triathlons, 2 century rides (100 mile bike rides), and one 1/2 Ironman. Marie is a physical therapist by trade and loves playing a part in someone completing a marathon or half-marathon, especially first timers. She believes that completing an event for the first time is something that cannot be replicated, but helping someone else do it comes close. |
Dan Jerger - Head Coach Cycle Program
| | Dan has participated in numerous endurance events, with an emphasis on cycling. When asked how many he's participated in Dan's response is "N-1 where N = my goal." Since starting as a participant with Team in Training in 1999, he has helped support every season. Dan has been coaching with TNT since 2002 and has been the head coach for the cycle team since 2004. He loves helping a wonderful group of people accomplish fantastic goals. Dan has four phrases that he lives by as a coach: listen to your body, keep the shiny side up, have fun, and it's a beautiful day! |
Mike Palm - Head Coach Triathlon Program | | Mike has extensive event experience as he has coached or competed in 25 cycle century rides (100 mile bike rides), 6 marathons, 20+ Olympic/sprint distance triathlons, 10 1/2 Ironmans, and 3 Ironman events.
