Triathlons

Team In Training's triathlon program offers the opportunity to take on the challenge of swimming, cycling, and running an Olympic-distance triathlon and make a difference in the lives of an estimated 1,012,533 people in the United States living with, or in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma.

Along with a customized-training program and expert coaching, participants will train with a local group of like-minded individuals for motivation and inspiration.

Team In Training (TNT) is looking for triathletes for the events listed below.

Please note that participation in a TNT event is subject to the local availability of group training and transportation arrangements. Other shorter and/or longer triathlon events may be offered. Please consult the TNT staff at your local chapter for additional details.


 

hawaii

Lavaman Triathlon

Swim in Anaeho'omalu Bay, bike a portion of the IRONMAN World Championship bike course, then run on lava fields, sand, coral trail, road and lawn all the way to the sandy beach finish, where beer, BBQ and music await!

  • Olympic (0.9-mi swim, 24.8-mi bike, 6.2-mi run)
  • Waikoloa Village, HI
  • Sunday, March 29 with 2- or 3-night hotel stay March 27-30
  • Training for this event kicks off on Dec. 6
  • In January, commit to raising $4,000 (2 nights) or $4,500 (3 nights) or more by March 11
  • About the Greater Bay Area triathlon teams:
    • There are two regional triathlon teams in the Greater Bay Area, with trainings focused around Silicon Valley, and San Francisco, Marin and East Bay.
    • No triathlon experience is necessary.
    • A typical training week includes two swim days, two run days, two biking days and a rest day. During the week, coached track workouts include strength and core training, running drills, time trials and hill repeats. Buddy rides and buddy swims are organized by the team. On weekends, the teams get together Saturday and Sunday mornings for running, swimming and/or bike workouts.

HITS Napa Triathlon

This course through Napa Valley twists and turns alongside beautiful Lake Berryessa and finishes in a lovely open valley dotted with vineyards.

  • Sprint (.25-mi swim, 12.4-mi bike, 2-mi run), Olympic (.93 mi swim, 24.8 mi bike, 6.2 mi run) or long course (1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run)
  • Napa, CA
  • Saturday, April 11-12 with 2-night hotel stay April 11-13
  • Training for this event kicks off on Dec. 6
  • On Jan. 31, commit to raising $2,800 or more by March 25 
  • About the Greater Bay Area triathlon teams:

Vineman Full and AquaBike

Designed with an emphasis on making the average athlete's experience of completing a full distance triathlon the most enjoyable and personalized as possible, the Vineman course is a tour of Sonoma County vineyards and wineries.

  • Full Vineman (2.4-mi swim, 112-mi bike, 26.2-mi run) or Vineman AquaBike (2.4-mi swim, 112-mi cycle)
  • Windsor, CA 
  • Saturday, July 25 with 3-night hotel stay July 23-26
  • Training for this event kicks off in January.
  • In February, commit to raising $5,800 or more by July 8

Building on the legacy of the 2010 Winter Olympics, IRONMAN Canada offers athletes a majestic course in a world-class destination.  Whistler, British Columbia beckons athletes with its pristine natural environment and vibrant village.

  • Full distance triathlon (2.4-mi swim, 112-mi bike and 26.2-mi run)
  • Whistler, British Columbia
  • Sunday, July 26 with 3-night hotel stay July 24-27
  • Training for this event kicks off in January.
