Marathons & Half Marathons

Team In Training offers runners and walkers the opportunity to take on the challenge of a marathon or half-marathon and make a difference in the lives of an estimated 1,012,533 people in the United States living with, or in remission from, leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma, non-Hodgkin lymphoma or myeloma.

Along with a customized-training program and expert coaching, participants will train with a local group of like-minded individuals for motivation and inspiration.

Team In Training (TNT) is looking for walkers and runners for the events listed below.

Please note that participation in a TNT event is subject to the local availability of group training and transportation arrangements. Please consult the TNT staff at your local chapter for additional details.

San Luis Obispo Marathon and Half Marathon

This point-to-point race starts at San Luis Obispo High School and finishes at the iconic Madonna Inn, in between highlighting the incredible beauty of historic neighborhoods and the green hills and open spaces of Edna Valley and wine country.

  • Marathon or half marathon (26.2- or 13.1-mi run, walk or run/walk)
  • San Luis Obispo, CA
  • Sunday, April 26 with 2-night hotel stay April 25-27
  • Training for this event kicks off on Dec. 6.
  • On Feb. 7, commit to raising $2,900 or more by March 25 
  • About the marathon teams:
    • There are four regional marathon teams in the Greater Bay Area, with trainings focused around San Francisco and Marin, the East Bay, South Bay and the Peninsula.
    • No running or walking experience is necessary.
    • Coached team workouts are every Saturday morning, usually starting at 8 a.m. Training starts at 1-4 miles, and mileage increases 10-15% every other Saturday. The longest training is 12 miles (for half marathons) or 22 miles (for full marathons) two to three weeks before your event.
    • During the week, mentors organize informal buddy runs and coached track workouts include instruction on tempo, pacing, breathing and form through interval training, hill repeats, core training and strength training.

BMO Vancouver Marathon and Half Marathon

The Vancouver Marathon is an adventure past beaches, through natural parks, and along the bustling Seawall. The Half Marathon courses through eleven neighbourhoods past historic landmarks, breathtaking views, and vibrant communities.

  • Marathon or half marathon (26.2- or 13.1-mi run, walk or run/walk)

  • Sunday, May 3 with 3-night hotel stay May 1-4
  • Training for this event kicks off on Dec. 6.

Moms In Training

Moms In Training is a flexible nine-week social workout program on Saturday mornings beginning Jan. 18 where moms come together to get in shape while raising funds for cancer treatments. On Sunday, March 22, moms will complete the She.Is.Beautiful 5K/10K in Santa Cruz with family, friends and neighbors cheering from the sidelines! Runners, joggers, walkers and strollers are welcome. Moms of all tness levels can join.

TNT Flex Events

Flex teams allow us to offer more events than the Greater Bay Area chapter can support locally. For these events, you connect with your national team manager, mentors, coaches and teammates online throughout the season. Your team kickoff, check-ins, clinics and fundraising workshops are conducted online, leaving you free to follow the training calendar on your own terms. You meet and celebrate with your team in-person at event weekend. As a Flex participant you are also welcome to train with our local teams listed above. We?ll give you the local team training calendar and you can attend local workouts whenever it?s convenient for you.   • Walt Disney WorldŽ Marathon Weekend - Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10-11
    Imagine a weekend of runs where every mile is filled with Disney fun. Join us for a weekend of races that are as magical as they are memorable, from Disney's Health & Fitness Expo to running through all four Theme Parks in the 21st annual Marathon.
  • Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend - Sunday, Feb. 22
    The Disney Princesses are the inspiration for the weekend's events which will focus on the attributes every princess possesses: commitment, courage, determination, fantasy, perserverance and strength. Mirror, mirror, reveal the one.
  • Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend - Sunday, May 10
    DisneylandŽ Resort becomes Never Land for a magical weekend especially for Fairies and Princesses. Sassy, feisty, and fun loving, Tinker Bell is the fairy we all know and love! Celebrate your inner Miss Bell at this half marathon, full of pixie dust and Never Land adventure. Just follow the second star to the right.
