Honored Heroes

One of the most unique and special aspects of the TNT program is that each participant will have the opportunity to participate for an Honored Teammate, a local blood cancer patient or survivor in whose honor they train and raise funds. TNT participants are also encouraged to train in honor or memory of someone in their personal life. Through your Honored Teammate, you will understand the bravery and spirit shown every day by patients and survivors of blood cancers. Their experiences will inspire and motivate you to test the limits of your endurance and can encourage your network to support your commitment. Honored Teammates are frequently at team activities and group trainings.

Our participants are making a difference! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested $19 million to research in Missouri & Illinois to find a cure. Last year, the Gateway Chapter:

  • Contributed $185,000 in financial aid to patients.
  • Provided co-pay assistance of $444,000.
  • Served over 4,750 patients with financial support, education, and support groups.
  • Provided school curriculum/orientation for children transitioning back to the classroom in over 500 schools.

Jill loves being involved with TNT, "Team In Training has renewed my faith in humanity. it is so amazing to see the lengths that people will go to help others. There are so many people who are out there who are participating who don't even have a connection to blood cancers." Jill is also amazed by the far-reaching benefits of TNT. "So many people benefit from TNT. Patients and their families, doctors, researchers all benefit, but the participants also benefit. When people complete their training they look healthier, they seem happier, and they are pleased with the relationships and accomplishments they have made."
