2008 Fall Honored Hero Daniel
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon Team &
Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon - Virginia Beach Team

Daniel was diagnosed in Aug. of 2005 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). He is three years old and in Pre-K. Daniel's birthday is Aug. 15th! His parents are Bob and Ilsa. Daniel is the youngest in his family and has seven older brothers and sisters! Daniel loves to play and run around inside and outside. He loves books and "Signing Times" (a DVD that teaches sign language). Daniel loves to play with his brothers and sisters and refers to them as his "friends." Ilsa is especially appreciative of the hard work and energy that you all will put into your training and fundraising this season because she has just completed her second event with TNT in March! "Team In Training and the wonderful work they do has been a way to reach out and allow other friends and families  to help make a difference in lives affected like Daniel's. While this has been a hard time for all of us as a family, it has been a time to unite and bond together to help Daniel get through this."  Daniel and his family are thrilled to be a part of TNT and the VA Beach team! They look forward to getting to know you all this season!

2008 Fall Honored Hero Jemy
Jemy was diagnosed in Sept. of 2005 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). She just finished chemotherapy!!!! She is 13 years old, and in 7th grade. Jemy's birthday is Jan. 15th! Her parents are Tom & Jacqueline.  Jemy loves arts & crafts. She also loves shopping and cooking. She enjoys ice skating, swimming, and mountain biking. Jemy and her family are thrilled to be a part of TNT and the tri teams! They look forward to getting to know you all this season!

2008 Fall Honored Hero  Jessica Ginn
Cruisin' in the Country Cycle Team

Jessica was diagnosed in Feb. of 2007 with chronic myelogeneous leukemia (CML). After taking Gleevec, Jessica is now in remission! Her birthday is March 15th! Jessica has a dog and enjoys taking long walks! She is especially thankful that she can walk and eventually run again!! Jessica loves to laugh and spend time with her friends. She also enjoys painting and writing. "I am so deeply touched to be chosen as an Honored Hero. The Cancer experience has been very hard. As hard as it has been,  I have learned invaluable lessons from this journey. This opportunity to celebrate life and recognize all that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society gives to us (as cancer patients) is very meaningful to my family and to me." Jessica and her family are thrilled to be a part of TNT and the Cycle team! Jessica looks forward to getting to know you all this season!

Mallory was diagnosed in Sept. of 2000 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). She is 23 years old, and her birthday is March 23rd! Her parents are Mike & Leissa. Mallory has two siblings, Phillip,age 3 and Matt, age 23. Mallory enjoys music, movies, and books. She also loves ice cream! She loves sports, especially football. She is a HUGE fan of Peyton and Eli Manning. Mallory is so excited to be participating in the Nike Women's Half Marathon as well as being the Team's honored hero! She is thrilled to be such a special part of TNT and the Nike team! She looks forward to getting to know you all this season!

Christine was diagnosed in April of 2001 with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Christine's birthday is April 3rd! Christine and her husband, Max, have 4 wonderful children ages 19, 17, 14, and 6.  Christine enjoys music, movies, and reading. She loves the outdoors and relishing in the beauty of the world. She also loves family time! Christine and her family are thrilled to be a part of TNT and the Chicago team! They look forward to getting to know you all this season!

2007-2008 Winter Honored Hero AJ
Atlanta Half Marathon
AJ was diagnosed in 2003 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). His leukemia relapsed in June 2007. AJ is currently undergoing treatment. He is 13 years-old and his birthday is Jan. 21st. His parents, Charles and Nancy, said that "He has demonstrated a positive attidude throughout his treatment." AJ also has an older sister, Jacqueline. He enjoys basketball, baseball, hockey, video games and card collecting. AJ and his family look forward to meeting everyone on the Atlanta Half Marathon Team!

Hector was diagnosed in April 2006 with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Hectors birthday is Dec. 13th. He lives in Heathrow, FL with his wife Maribelle. Hector has two children. His daughter, Maria, is one of the fabulous Disney mentors this season! Hector enjoys golf and reading.  Hector is very grateful for all the efforts of Team In Training." He will be a virtual honored hero for the Disney Team this season! Hector is excited to join you all on the event weekend and cheer you on as you cross the finish line!

2007-2008 Winter Honored Hero Jill Powers
Northside Team
Jill was diagnosed in Oct. 2004 with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Her birthday is June 16th. She lives in Alpharetta. Jill has been involved with TNT for 3 years and has fundraised almost $20, 000 for LLS! She completed her 1st triathlon with TNT this past September! Besides being very active in TNT, Jill loves being at the beach or near the water! She also loves to travel and spend time in the great outdoors. Jill says ?I am totally open to talking about my Cancer, so don?t be shy. Ask away!? She is looking forward to being the Northside Team?s honored hero and getting to know each of you better!

Karen was diagnosed in Dec. of 1999 with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (C.L.L).  Her birthday is August 28th! She lives in Canton with her husband, Mike. Karen enjoys cooking and travelling. She and Mike have been participants and supporters of TNT for years. Last year they both fundraised and completed the Atlanta Half Marathon! We are so excited to have Karen back this year as such a special part of the walk team. Karen is really looking forward to meeting the team and getting to know you!

Kate was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia(ALL) in April of 2007.  She is 5 years-old and her birthday is May 30th. Kate will begin kindergarten this year. She lives in Decatur with her family. Kate has two siblings; Jackson is 7 years-old and Ava is 2 years-old. Her parents, Jason and Carolyn, are excited to become involved with Team In Training and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Kate enjoys gymnastics, swimming and drawing. She loves jumping on the trampoline, playing with her Little Pet Shop toys, and anything Hello Kitty! Kate's mom, Carolyn, will be joining the Team this season! She will be training and fundraising for Disney too! Kate and her family look forward to meeting all of you!

2007-2008 Winter Honored Hero Steven Linn Murphy
P. F. Chang's Arizona Rock 'n' Roll Marathon & 1/2 Marathon
Steven was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) in Aug. of 2005.  Steven lives in Atlanta, and his birthday is Feb. 9th.  Steven enjoys playing piano and singing in the chorus. He loves old black and white movies from the 1940's and 1950's. He even has a section of his home dedicated to the most famous actors of the silver screen from that time period. Steven is really excited to be part of the Phoenix team this season and can't wait to get to know all of you! He wants you to know "I have been in remission 2 times, but unfortunately relapsed in Dec. 2006.  Although this might seem upsetting to people with chronic disease and disability, my resolve is stronger than ever just knowing there are people and sponsors out there who care and are willing to provide support to those of us who battle leukemia, other blood cancers and cancer in general to research and fight these debilitating diseases.  I thank The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with all my heart for fighting for our health and related causes.  God Bless you."

Jamie was diagnosed in April of 2005 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). He is 18 years old, and his birthday is on May 9th. His parents are Geoff and Donna, and he has a 16 year old sister named Karissa. Jamie just completed his freshman year at Georgia State University.  He enjoys music and playing the guitar. Jamie also loves traveling to the beach! Jamie and his family look forward to meeting all of you!

Maia was diagnosed in October of 2006 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). She is 8 years old, and in the 3rd grade. Maia's birthday is on April 21st. Her parents are Alyssa and Steven. Maia has two younger sisters named Ariana and Téa. Maia enjoys reading, painting, cooking, dancing, and writing. Maia loves the outdoors and playing outside! Maia and her family look forward to meeting all of you!

Meredith was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in December of 2002.  She was 19 years old and a sophomore at the College of Charleston when she was diagnosed. Currently, Meredith lives in Atlanta. She is 24 years old and her birthday is January 18th. Meredith enjoys cycling, playing golf, sailing, travelling and cooking. She is also involved with her church. Meredith is really excited to be part of the Marine Corps team and can?t wait to meet everyone!

Rebecca was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in June of 2005. She is 30 years old and her birthday is May 26th. Rebecca lives in Atlanta. She really enjoys traveling, hanging out with friends, music, reading, and theather. Her younger sister had Hodgkin lymphoma and has been in remission for over 10 years!! Rebecca is really excited to be part of the Nike team and can?t wait to meet everyone!

2007 Fall Honored Hero - Taylor Brown

Taylor is 22 years old and was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma. Her birthday is May 5th. Taylor is currently attending the Medical College of Georgia and studying nursing. Taylor is moving back from Athens to live with her family. Taylor?s parents are Penny and Tim. Taylor is a triplet and has 2 brothers, Adam and Evan.  She also has an older brother named Conor. Taylor enjoys running, cycling, hiking, camping, and reading. She also loves children and dogs. Taylor is excited to be a part of the triathlon teams this season and can?t wait to meet everyone!

2007 Fall Honored Hero - Warren Bruno

Warren was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in April 2005. His birthday is August 5th. He enjoys cycling, hot air ballooning, and sailing. Warren lives in Atlanta with his wife, Sandra, while running Atkins Park restaurant in the Virginia Highlands.  He is looking forward to many rides and lasting friendships!

2007 Fall Honored Hero - Chuck Corvi

Honolulu Century Ride & Cruisin' in the Country Century Cycle Teams Chuck was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL) in August 1997. His birthday is May 9^th.  He enjoys cooking and playing golf. Chuck lives in Atlanta with his wife, Cindy, who is a Team In Training cycling coaching assistant.  He is really looking forward to being the cycle teams' honored hero!

2007 Summer Honored Hero - George
Northside Team
George was diagnosed in July of 2005 with Leukemia. He is 7-years-old and in the 2nd grade. His parents are David and Crystal. George enjoys building with Legos and collecting Pokemon and yu-gi-oh cards. His favorite book is Lord of the Rings, and his favorite movie is Van Helsing. He is very friendly and has a very sweet disposition! George's personal hero is his late grandfather. George says "Thank you for your help" and "Keep raising money for kids like me." George and his family look forward to meeting all of you!

2007 Summer Honored Hero - Davis
Augusta Team
Davis was diagnosed with with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in Dec. of 2004. He is 13 and in 6th grade at Westminster Schools of Augusta. Davis lives in Augusta with his parents, Charles and Kay and his 15-year-old brother, Chase. He loves to golf and also enjoys hunting and fishing. Davis is excited about being part of the Augusta team. The doctors at MCG Children's Center have said many times that if the unusual and occassional side effects were to happen to anyone, they would happen to Davis. But even during all of this - his attitude has always been so positive!

2007 Summer Honored Hero - Tracy Krohn

Tracy was diagnosed in July of 2005 with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She is 34 and her birthday is Oct. 13th. Tracy enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys shopping, scrapbooking, going to movies, and playing basketball. Tracy truly appreciates all your hard work and dedication because she just completed her training and fundraising for the Atlanta Half Marathon in November! Tracy says "Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the TNT program. Every step you take is one step closer to a cure!" Tracy looks forward to meeting you this season!

2007 Summer Honored Hero - Jamie Polansky

Jamie was diagnosed in Sept. of 2005 with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She is 29, and her birthday is March 19th. Jamie just got engaged! She is busy with wedding plans and work, but she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys working out, hiking, snowboarding, and vacationing at the beach and mountains. Jamie truly appreciates all your hard work and dedication because she just completed her training and fundraising for the Atlanta Half Marathon in November! Jamie looks forward to meeting you this season!

Marcela  was diagnosed in Aug. of 2004 with Leukemia. She is 7-years-old and in the 2nd Grade. Marcela lives with her parents, Carlos and Lina and her sister, C amila. Marcela enjoys swimming, biking, and playing barbies. She also collects giraffes. Her personal hero and best friend is her sister, Camila. Marcela and her family look forward to meeting all of you!

2007 Summer Honored Hero - Lyndon Silloway
Fletcher Flyer & America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride Teams
Lyndon was diagnosed in July of 2003 with Lymphoma. He is 50, and his birthday is Jan. 30th. Lyndon and his wife, Cindy, have four kids: Jane, Michael , Patrick, and William. "My family, my faith, and my work as a consultant keep me engaged in life. "Surviving cancer is as much mental and spiritual as it is medical and physical. TNT's coordinators, trainers, mentors, and team members have helped me physically and mentally meet and overcome every challenge." Lyndon looks forward to cycling with you this season, he will be training for and participating in the Fletcher Flyer Century. He has already completed three cycle centuries with TNT!

2007 Summer Honored Hero -  Lynn Teague
America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride & Fletcher Flyer Teams
Lynn was diagnosed in Sept. of 1985 with Hodgkins disease. She is 47, and her birthday is Nov. 18th. She has a 16 year old daughter named Casey. Lynn is living life! She likes to scuba dive, inline skate, and cycle. She also loves writing and listening to music. Lynn appreciates all that you are doing and will be training and fundraising too! She will be participating in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride in Lake Tahoe this summer! Lynn looks forward to meeting and training with you this season!

Ed was diagnosed with non-hodgkin Lymphoma in  Nov. of 2004.
He has 4 children with ages ranging from14 to 19. Ed's wife, Libba Repa, has been his personal hero and even participated in the TNT triathlon program! Ed's hobbies include cycling, hiking, camping, fishing, reading and music. He is very excited about being part of the team. "What each participant is doing today helps people like me survive. You offer hope to those who were once hopeless. There is always hope because of you!"   Ed and his wife are really looking forward to meeting all of you!

Anna was diagnosed in Feb. of 2006 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). She is 3 years old, and her birthday is Jan. 30th. She lives with her parents, Steven and Diane. Ali was diagnosed in Nov. of 2002 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and completed two years of chemotherapy treatment. She is 15 years old, and her birthday is Jan. 5th. She lives in Powder Springs with her parents, Mark and Kay, and brother, Matthew. Ali will be in 10th grade this year at Dominion Christian High School. Her favorite hobbies are horsebackriding and playing tennis. Ali is really excited to be part of the Phoenix team this season and can't wait to get to know all of you!

 

2006 Spring Honored Hero - CJ
Augusta Team
CJ (Christopher) was diagnosed with t-cell acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) in February 2004. He turned 6 on Feb. 4, 2006. CJ enjoys gymnastics and playing with his brother and cousins. He also loves animals & enjoys learning about them. CJ enjoys visiting zoos due to his love of animals. Before diagnosis, he was learning to count in spanish. He also knows his colors and of course "basic animals" in spanish. His parents are Chris and Kelly, and he also has a brother named Matthew.

Chuck Corvi - El tour de Tucson
Chuck was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL)  in Aug. 1997. He enjoys cooking and golf. Chuck lives in Atlanta with his wife, Cindy, who is a Team In Training cycling participant. He is really looking forward to being the team honored hero!

Ilene Cohen - Atlanta Half Marathon and Honolulu Marathon
Ilene was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in April of 2001. She went through 8 treatments of chemotherapy and 30 days of radiation. Ilene's interests include yoga and watching foreign/independent films. Ilene is really looking forward to being the team honored hero!

Joshua Quinn - Walt Disney World Marathon & Half Marathon
Joshua is 9. He was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL)  in Feb. 1997.  He went through 3 ½ years of chemotherapy and 15 days of radiation.  Joshua is off treatment now and is coming up on 5 years of being off therapy! Joshua lives in Woodstock with his parents, Julie and Thomas, and an older sibling, Israel! Joshua loves animals, swimming and playing video games!

McKinley - The Northside Team

McKinley Libby was diagnosed in June 2004 with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) . She will turn 3 this Oct. McKinley lives in Alpharetta with her parents, Shawn and Kenny and her siblings, Brooke and Woods. McKinley enjoys playing with friends and being with her mom!

Rick Ross - Phoenix Rock n' Roll Marathon & Half Marathon

Rick was diagnosed in Aug. 2003 with acute myologenous leukemia (ALL). During his treatment, he endured two rounds of chemotherapy and a transplant at the Fred Hutchison Cancer Center in Seattle. Rick has 3 children and a wife, Jeannie (the unsung hero)!!! He enjoys woodworking, cooking, river canoeing, fly fishing, reading and sailing!

Ali
Ali is 14 and her birthday is Jan. 5.  Ali was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL)  in Nov. 2002. On Monday, Feb. 21 2005, Ali took her last oral chemotherapy pill and is now officially off therapy! Ali loves horses!  She also enjoys other animals and crafts. Brady is 6 and his birthday is Oct. 11.  Brady was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in March, 2004. Brady lives with his parents, Ted and Lafortune. He has an older sister, Shelby.  Brady enjoys playing baseball, basketball and x-box games!  He also enjoys playing with his friends and Sunday school!  

Bria - Nike Marathon & Half Marathon
Bria is 12 and full of life!  Her birthday is Jan. 18.  She was diagnosed with T-Cell Leukemia in May 2002. She keeps active by playing basketball and roller-skating.  She loves to have her nails painted.  She likes the rapper, Bow Wow and the movie "Friday".  Bria lives with her grandmother, Mildred.  She has an older brother, Shyteek and a younger sister, Amber.

Ruth Helms - The Northside Team
Ruth was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in Nov. 2002. She lives in Woodstock with her husband, Rodger and 10-year-old child. Ruth enjoys swimming, foreign languages, scrapbooking and traveling! She also participates in the handbell choir and is a girl scout leader. Ruth is really excited about being an honored hero for the Northside team and looks forward to meeting all of you!

Daniel is 17 years old and is a junior at Chamblee Charter High School. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in October of 2003. Daniel enjoys playing football, watching movies, and working on his computer. Daniel was a sophomore in high school when diagnosed with ALL. His entire world changed in a blink. He went from starter on the high school football team to a cancer survivor. The manner he has handled himself and this disease is an inspiration to us all." (Katherine Zuniga-his mother)

Frank is 47 years old. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 1997. Frank enjoys music, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Frank is very anxious to meet and get to know each of the TNT team members! He would like to personally thank all of you for your selfless efforts.

Josh - WALT DISNEY WORLD Marathon

Joshua is 6 years old. He was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) in Sept. 2000. Josh has an older sister, Shelby. He loves cars, trucks and planes! He also enjoys playing outside and swimming. This is his first year playing t-ball! Josh just started kindergarten and is very excited about it!

Bruce Morgan - Athens Team - Winter 2005
Bruce was diagnosed with a chronic form of leukemia in January of 2001. He lives in Athens and has a 20 year old daughter who attends UGA!! His biggest interests include playing the guitar, gardening, and helping out in the community. Bruce is also mentoring for the Athens team!!

Hillary - Northside Team - Winter 2005
Hillary is 13 years old. She was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) in November of 2001. Hillary's parents are Mark and Cindy and she has a brother named Samuel. She loves to read and play softball, soccer, and piano.

Sarah Wilson - Southside Team - Winter 2005
Sarah is 29 years old. She was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in June of 1999. She is married to Jeff and has a nine year old step son named Bryce and a one year old son named Brent. In her free time, Sarah enjoys taking care of her son(s) and shopping.

Ali is 12 years old. Her birthday is Jan. 5. Ali was diagnosed with ALL in November 2002. Ali is officially in maintenance, which will continue for two years. She LOVES horses! Grace is 1 year old. Her birthday is June 6. She was diagnosed with ALL in September 2002. Grace loves to watch The Wiggles. She also likes playing with her toys. Bobby, 10, was born on Dec. 9. He was diagnosed with ALL in June 1997. Bobby's hobbies include baseball, Boy Scouts, reading, animals, traveling and running with his mom. He also loves to play with his friends and brother. He looks forward to participating in his first Team In Training event when he gets old enough. And Bobby LOVES Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. He lives with his parents, Bryan and Mary Beth, and his brother, Matt.

Maddie - Northside Team - Spring 2004
Maddie, 10, was born on Dec. 11. She was diagnosed with ALL in October 2002. Maddie's sister, Lily, is 3 years old. Maddie enjoys art, swimming, learning about any animal or bug, and her biggest love is horseback riding.  Maddie even has her own pony, who is now a therapeutic riding pony for Dreampower. Maddie loves to help with the horses and is often known as the Horse Whisperer.

Bruce Morgan - Athens Team - Spring 2004
Bruce was diagnosed with a chronic form of leukemia in January 2001. He has a 20-year-old daughter. Bruce remains active, and his biggest interests include gardening and playing the guitar. He is looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Cynthia Smith - Southside Team - Spring 2004
Cynthia was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in August 2001. She has three children: Denzel, 10; Keith, 16; and Courtney, 21. Cynthia lives with her husband and children. She enjoys dancing, playing cards, going to church and sporting games, especially football and baseball.
