In 1988, a man named Bruce Cleland trained with a group of
friends to run the New York City Marathon and raised funds
for leukemia research. Training in honor of Cleland's baby
daughter Georgia, who was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic
leukemia, the group referred to themselves as the "team in
training," and the name stuck.
Twenty years later, Team In Training (TNT) is the world's
largest endurance sports training program, providing
coaching and support for people to cross the finish line at
marathons, cycling and triathlon events. Over 340,000
participants have raised more than $800 million to help
blood cancer patients live better, longer lives.
