Training
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training®
(TNT) program is designed for runners, walkers, cyclists and
triathletes of all skill levels and abilities. Experienced coaches
design a day-by-day training program that prepares athletes for their
particular event.
Group training for runners and walkers consists of Saturday or Sunday
morning group trainings that leave from The McConnell Heart Health Center
and various metro parks. Cyclists meet on Saturday mornings at various
places around central Ohio, and the triathletes meet on Wednesday and
Sunday mornings at the Dublin Community Center and local bike
trails. All athletes will receive weekly emails with updates on their
training sessions.
Heroes
Each season we recognize our patient heroes - current blood cancer
patients and survivors in whose honor the athletes train, race and
fundraise. A hero may be a personal friend or relative of the TNT
participant or someone connected with the Society. Athletes will
have opportunities throughout the season to meet and interact
with their hero at socials and team activities.
Fundraising
In return for TNT's wonderful training and other benefits,
participants are asked to raise funds for the Society's efforts to
cure leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myleoma.
Once the fundraising minimum is met for the selected event, TNT staff
will arrange and pay for each athlete's airfare, hotel stay, race
registration and TNT weekend events. Our staff are dedicated to
helping each athlete achieve his or her fundraising goals, providing
ideas, suggestions and materials.
Participants will also be assigned a mentor. Mentors
are former TNT athletes who can provide fundraising ideas
and support.
Testimonials
-
"TNT is an opportunity of a lifetime.
Never have I worked harder while realizing such a gratifying reward
in knowing that I have helped the heroes fighting leukemia. The
friends that I have met through this experience have not been for
only a couple months, but for a lifetime. It is an experience
I would not trade for anything."
