Marathon de Paris, Paris Marathon  April 11, 2010
Every year in April, 35,000 runners crowd the streets of Paris in the annual Marathon de Paris - or Paris International Marathon.

Throughout the marathon runners get a good view of the magnificent city and some of its famous sights. The course begins in front of the Arc de Triomphe and continues down the broad Champs Elysées. The route passes through two Parisian woods and past fabulous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place de la Bastille. A large part of the course runs along the banks of the calmly flowing Seine River providing pleasing scenery and ensuring flat streets at the same time. The wide avenues at the start prevent overcrowding, and the overall flatness of the course makes it fairly fast. PB setting is definitely an option.

Canada's largest marathon takes place in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia.  The mostly flat, paved course starts at BC Place Stadium's south side, loops around the inner harbor of False Creek and back past the start line.  Runners and walkers then pass through historic Gastown and into the beautifully forested Stanley Park, they then exit on the south side and cross the Burrard Street Bridge to the spectator-filled cafes, beaches and beautiful homes of Kitsilano neighborhood before crossing the finish line at the Plaza of Nations.  A half-marathon option is also available and features much of the beauty of the full marathon course.
