Corporate Sponsorships

Corporate Sponsorships

Some companies have a budget set up specifically for donations to charities. These budgets are managed in different ways so it is best to find out what the procedures are for acquiring funds. This approach is most effective if you work for the company or if you know someone who works at a company. In the latter case, it may be more advantageous for the employee to make the request on your behalf and then join you in a meeting with the appropriate people. To send a proposal without knowing anything about the company's corporate giving policy or without knowing someone who works there is probably an ineffective use of your time.

If you are interested in a corporate proposal package, please contact your Team Manager or the LLS Office. Use this proposal when approaching companies for donations. In return for their generous support, we will promote their business or services with a logo placement on our team singlets, jerseys, the local TNT website and banners. Send the proposal with a cover letter explaining your involvement in the program and your personal fundraising goals.

Corporate Sponsorship How To's

How to inquire within the company

  • Find out what department would handle your inquiry (HR, Community Relations, CEO, etc). The larger the company, the more digging required.
  • Research your company's giving history & focus. This will ensure your proposal is in line with the corporation's needs.

How to affect change at your company

  • Set-up a meeting with the decision-maker.
  • Gather a group of TNT participants (past or present) to speak to them about the cause.

How you can ensure your proposal speaks to those needs

  • Show how your participation is positively affecting the company.
  • Show how the companies participation will positively affect the company (i.e. cause-related marketing or employee philanthropy)

How to write a successful sponsorship letter

  • Your story (from an employee perspective) & why you got involved.
  • Info on your company's giving policy &/or focus.
  • Info on Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
    • The mission is a must & a few high points (brief & succinct)

  • Info on Team In Training

  • Tie the needs of LLS in with the companies needs
    • If their focus is children, talk about how LLS serves that population

  • Specifics about your event/training/honoree
    • Brief but passionate, articulate & impactful

  • The REQUEST -
    • The most important element-make the ASK!

  • The VALUE
    • Can use the corporate partnership info sheet regarding the various levels
Assign one value instead of offering all values to the company.
Ask for more rather then less, but be reasonable
